WAYNE BOYD CELEBRATES A DOUBLE VICTORY AT SPA

Championship leader Wayne Boyd won both rounds of the British Formula Ford Championship at the Belgian Grand Prix circuit of Spa-Francorchamps bringing his victories for the Jamun Racing team to 13 for the season. His lead over the championship is now 58 points with seven rounds of the season to go. A smiling Wayne said "It's all good" when asked how his latest triumphs might have strengthened his title hopes.
Jamun team-mate Victor Correa accomplished his first pole position in the UK FF Championship in the first race and made a good start only to be shunted off by Nick Tandy returning to the championship in a JTR-prepared car in the first hairpin, La Source and as Victor’s Mygale regained the circuit it hit Adrian Campfield's Spectrum.
Tim Blanchard, who started from second on the grid led out of the hairpin and through Eau Rouge but the Australian couldn’t hold on to first place for long as team-mate Wayne Boyd towed past him on the long straight down to Les Combes to take the lead which he held to the chequered flag.
Following the Safety Car as the debris was cleared from La Source Wayne successfully defended his position at the restart and gradually pulled away to a two-second lead, only to have it wiped out once again.
"The first-corner accident played into my hands a bit because I didn't make a great start, then came the safety car, and I got caught up with a backmarker at the Bus Stop chicane and I lost my advantage again. It seemed like ages before I could get my head down and break the tow" Wayne said after the race.
Tim Blanchard never allowed his team-mate to build too much of a gap but he hampered by Chris Maliepaard's Getem Mygale chasing him for the entire race and said after the race "I managed to close in on Wayne at one point but then I made a small mistake and he broke the tow."
James Cole, in the fourth Jamun Mygale had his most convincing race of the season after qualifying sixth, finishing fourth after a long battle with Marco Sorensen's Van Diemen, finally passing him around the outside through Eau Rouge to retake the place he’d lost on lap six.
Pole sitter Victor Correa recovered well after being shunted and having to make a brief pit stop finishing in eighth place ahead of the JTR cars of Rogier de Wit and Philippe Layac.
In the Dutch Championship class Liroy Stuart took victory by half a second from Henk Vuik Jr.
In the second race on Saturday, Wayne Boyd made a great start from pole position to lead through La Source from Tim Blanchard and Tandy but by the end of the lap he had been demoted to fourth with Tandy and team-mate’s Tim Blanchard and Victor Correa leading the race in that order.
Two sessions under the safety car following the removal of a Dutch Formula Ford and Brown's Van Diemen eased the tension of a thrilling Spa slipstreaming race. From the restart on lap six Tandy surged into the lead but almost immediately Victor Correa and Tim Blanchard towed past him on the straight, but at Les Combes Wayne Boyd his opportunity pass them as they battled and lead to the finish.
"The two safety car periods were a nightmare but once they were over and I'd got past Tim and Victor things went well. My tyres were just about finished towards the end, but Nick didn't push me too hard on the last lap, thankfully."
Victor Correa claimed second and Tim Blanchard third in the championship standings with James Cole taking fifth to complete his most successful weekend.
