Started in cadet karts - finishing in top 10 in Northern Ireland Championship in his first season and earning Best Newcomer award.

2004
In Maranello karts in he won the Ulster Championship and was Scottish Championship runner-up.

2005
Won Ulster Championship again and became a works Intrepid kart driver.

2006
Contested Super 1 National JICA Championship.
2007

Moved into Formula Ford ford , winning the Northern Irish FF1600 Championship, the pre-1993 class and taking the Novice of the Year title. Qualified on pole for his heat in Brands Hatch Formula Ford Festival and won his semi-final on his first visit to the circuit
