ANOTHER
HAT-TRICK AT CROFT FOR WAYNE BOYD
Jamun
Racing’s Wayne Boyd collected another hat trick of pole
positions, fastest laps and wins at rounds 7, 8 and 9
of the British Formula Ford Championship at Croft. He
now leads the championship from Jamun team-mate and chief
title rival Tim Blanchard by 58 points.
Wayne was naturally pleased and said “It's been a good
weekend's work.”
In
round 7 Linton Stuteley's Getem Mygale got away first
from the pole sitter but by the Barcroft/Sunny series
of right hinders Wayne had regained the lead with Jamun
team-mate Tim Blanchard taking second position behind
him. Although working hard Tim was unable to stop Wayne
from taking an eight-tenths advantage by the end of the
first lap and at race end the gap had extended to just
over four seconds, with Wayne setting a new lap record
of 1m 23.006s.
After the race Wayne said “I pushed as hard as I could
at the start, and kept on banging in the quick laps until
I had built an advantage,” with team-mate Tim Blanchard
adding “We all need to raise our game if we are to catch
Wayne.”
Brazilian team-mate Victor Correa recovered from an eighth-lap
spin to fight back ahead of his Jamun colleague James
Cole to take sixth.
Following
heavy overnight rain the Croft track surface was slippery
but Jamun Racing team-mates Boyd and Blanchard took their
second one-two of the meeting despite Stuteley making
another good start, leading the first two-thirds of the
opening lap but again the Jamun team-mates overtook him
to control the race with Matt Hamilton taking the third
sport on the podium for the second time.
Victor Correa secured eighth position with James Cole
failing to complete the race.
In
the final round of the meeting Wayne Boyd made no errors
at the start and took an early lead form pole position
over team-mate Tim Blanchard, but on the eighth lap following
a two-lap safety car disruption Tim misjudged the chicane
and clipped a tyre wall causing his retirement.
Unfortunately Victor Correa, who had been chasing his
team-mates, was held up by the incident and Maliepaard
took advantage to take second position, but Victor recovered
to take third position and claim the final podium slot.
Team-mate James Cole failed to finish again.
