Victor
Correa takes his maiden victory in The British Formula
Ford Championship
Jamun
Racing's Brazilian Victor Correa took his maiden championship
victory in The British Formula Ford Championship at Brands
Hatch ahead of his Jamun team-mate and championship leader
Wayne Boyd, who despite failing to win a race for the
first time this season still leads the championship by
54 points with five races remaining.
The
first race looked as though it would be another Jamun
Racing 1-2 with pole sitter Wayne Boyd disputed the lead
with Victor Correa over the opening five laps, with the
Brazilian taking the lead on the opening lap after making
the better start. On lap four Wayne Boyd sped past Victor
Correa to take the lead with Campfield and Matt Hamilton
in third and fourth. On lap six Boyd, Correa and Hamilton
got caught up together coming out of Clearways leaving
Adrian Campfield to take the lead. For the next seven
laps
Tim Blanchard's Jamun Mygale piled on the pressure but
was unable to prevent Campfield's maiden championship
victory and the first for a Kevin Mills Racing Spectrum
chassis with Marco Sorensen third.
Jamun's James Cole came home in ninth place with Wayne
Boyd in 10th followed by Victor Correa in 12th.
Round twenty saw Wayne lead away from the pole to the
end of the fifth lap but was unabe to stop Correa grabbing
the lead through Paddock Hill Bend on lap six. Wayne tried
valiantly to regain the lead but couldn't and finished
less than three-tenths of a second behind Victor who took
his maiden victory in The British Formula Ford Championship.
Tim Blanchard finished seventh with James Cole in eleventh.
"It was a very hard race, it's my first win and I
am very happy. I hope to have more" said a happy
Victor after his maiden win. "
I just
didn't have the pace to stay ahead, and once he was in
front Victor drove brilliantly to defend his position"
added Wayne.
